The mansion shown below is in the process of being demolished. Some of the doors and windows are boarded up, and a chute for debris drops from a window on the right side.
Where in Park Slope did this mansion once stand? Who designed it, when, and for whom? When was it demolished?:
This is (or, more accurately, was) the Feltman Mansion at Eighth Avenue and Carroll Street, torn down in the late 1940s/50s (I believe). Charles Feltman, of course, was the owner of Coney Island's famous Feltman's - which (if indeed true) is best known for having invented the hot dog.
ReplyDeleteSorry - not certain of the architect nor the date of construction, but I am otherwise pretty certain on the identification.
ReplyDeleteFeltman's was on Surf Avenue, had entertainment, gave starts to many entertainers!
